The Controllable And Non- Controllable Pushers And Hurdles Of Implementing Green Supply Chain Management At Lebanese Independent Eateries

Suha Ali Tahhan

Abstract

This study aims at exploring the controllable and non- controllable pushers and hurdles of GSCM implementation at Lebanese independent restauarnts. A stratified purposeful sample of six Lebanese independent restaurants is adopted in this qualitative exploratory research that follows the multiple case study research design. Individual and cross- case analysis are applied in this study. It is found that around 57% of the pushers to implementing green supply chain management are controllable and 43% of the pushers are non- controllable. Further, most hurdles to adopting green supply chain management are non- controllable where they formed 75% of the overall obstructions with only 25% identified as controllable hurdles. The results of this study may be analytically generalized to Lebanese independent restaurants. Further, this study may help legislators issue the necessary regulations that will appropriately direct the execution of green supply chain management and it may help Lebanese non- chain restaurant owners position themselves effectively in the market by giving them a vivid perception of the present condition of green supply chain management, its barriers, and its drivers.
